Where Idaho public bids are posted
Last updated
Idaho has no single bid board. Each public owner posts its own work, and state law also requires most local construction bids to run as legal notices in a newspaper. This map shows where to look, by owner.
State agencies
| Owner | What it bids | Where it's posted |
|---|---|---|
| Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) | State highways and bridges | ITD Contractor Bidding (forecasts, ads, results). Bid documents on ITD’s QuestCDN page. |
| Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC) | Local bridges and federal-aid local roads it administers | LHTAC Bids & Solicitations, with documents on LHTAC’s QuestCDN page. |
| Idaho Division of Public Works (DPW) | State-owned buildings, including college and university facilities | DPW Construction (open bids, CM/GC and design-build RFQs, bid results). |
| Idaho Division of Purchasing | Statewide contracts for goods and services (not most construction) | Open & Future Solicitations; bids are submitted in IPRO (powered by Luma). |
Counties, cities, highway districts and school districts
Local governments post on their own websites, and for jobs over $250,000 they must also publish two newspaper notices before the bid opening (Idaho Code 67-2805). In North Idaho, for example:
- Kootenai County: Bid Postings (with email or text alerts). See our Kootenai County bids page.
- City of Coeur d’Alene: Bid Solicitations, with documents on the city’s Abadan plan room. See our Coeur d’Alene bids page.
- Highway districts (Post Falls, Lakes, East Side and others) often sponsor local road work that LHTAC or ITD advertises for them, so it shows up on those boards too.
The statewide catch-all: newspaper legal notices
Idaho newspapers run a shared legal-notice website, IdahoPublicNotices.com, searchable by county and keyword. Idaho law gives notices published there the same legal effect as the printed paper (Idaho Code 60-106A). Searching it for “bids” plus a county name catches owners that don’t keep a bid page.
Smaller jobs may never be advertised
Under 67-2805, a local government can buy public works under $100,000 without formal bidding, and for jobs of $100,000 to $250,000 it only has to send a written solicitation to at least three licensed contractors. Getting on owners’ contractor lists matters for that work.
FAQ
Is there one website with every Idaho public bid?
No. Each owner posts its own bids. ITD and LHTAC use their own pages plus QuestCDN, Idaho DPW uses dpw.idaho.gov, and local governments use their own sites plus newspaper legal notices, which are collected at IdahoPublicNotices.com.
Do Idaho cities and counties have to advertise construction bids?
For public works over $250,000, Idaho Code 67-2805 requires two newspaper notices, the first at least two weeks before the opening. Jobs of $100,000 to $250,000 only need a written solicitation to at least three licensed contractors, and jobs under $100,000 have no bidding requirement.
